Is it ok to get DAD monogrammed on cuff links instead of initials?

I would like to get my husband a nice gift from our daughter. I saw nice dad rings but he cannot wear gold. I was thinking about a nice pair of monogrammed cuff links. Is it ok to get DAD on there rather than his initials?

There’s no hard-and-fast rule on what you have monogrammed on cufflinks. I think "Dad" is charming.

As a father, this would make me very proud.
I am sure you can do this.

I think that would be cool. However, once he wants to leave it to someone, he’d have to find a boy/man to give them to. I still think it would be cool.

Dad on one, initials on the other

You can choose any three initials you choose.

Are you kidding? His heart would melt receiving that gift and he would wear it proudly. What a wonderful idea.

It’s okay, but a little weird. It would be a nice story for him to tell when people ask why he has "Dad" on his cufflinks instead of the traditional plain style or monogrammed style.

If the daughter is the one presenting the gift.

What a unique and fantastic idea! Dad would never need to explain why his cuff links proudly spell his beloved title instead of his initials. Further, I believe he would be the envy of many men, and a trend might be born.

I wouldn’t do it. Cufflinks are worn with suits, which are usually worn at businesslike occasions. DAD isn’t professional. It’s too cutesy and won’t look right in the business world. This is the kind of thing only women who aren’t in the business world think is cute.
