If it is a wedding (and thus a formal occasion), I would go with gold simply because it is traditionally considered formal. The vast majority of my formal cuff links + studs collection is gold + black onyx.
I also usually match my cuff links with everything else that I wear - if there is predominantly gold on you (or on the bride), then gold it is.
The idea is that your cuff links should compliment everything else.
Also, please remember that if you use cuff links for your tux, you must also use matching studs.
